Konnection

Konnection

Konnection (Grades 7-8)

When: Wednesday Nights at 7:00pm

Where: Oxford House (Student Center)

"Konnection" is our weekly program for junior high students (grades 7-8) at Tomball Bible Church. Simply put, we're aiming to shatter the stereotype that church is boring. To find out more, come visit us on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm in the Oxford House (Student Center)

Current Series: " The Ten Comandments"

This ten week series starts January 9th....

One of the things I enjoy about students is that I often get the chance to take some-thing they've heard their entire lives and help them understand how it can actually impact their lives! It seems like Konnection is one of the best places for this to happen.

I would venture to guess that the 10 Commandments is definitely something your student have heard about and may even be able to recite from memory, but do they really understand what FOLLOWING those commandments look like in the culture of today.

Small Groups

We believe that ministry happens best in the context of authentic and lasting relationships. Therefore, Small Groups are viewed as the backbone of our ministry. There are Small Groups for each grade that are broken down by gender and location. Groups typically meet during the school year in different homes. As a ministry, we do everything we can to help our students get plugged in and our leaders succeed in the mission of making disciples.

Specifically, to help students get plugged in, we will diligently add new student to existing groups up to 12 members. To help leaders succeed, we will carefully limit group size to 12 members with 2 leaders so that out volunteers don't get overloaded with relationships. Once all of our groups have 12 members, we will aim to start new groups.

If you're interested in joining a Small Group, let us know by emailing us with the below information.

- Student's Name          -Student's Gender

-Student's Grade           -Student's School

Who We Are

 Who We Are

Oxford Street Students

Philosophy and Our Unique Identity

Every Student Ministry has a unique identity, a DNA, which is formed by theology, philosophy and practice. It starts with theology, Know the Truth and why we believe it. We must understand God and His scriptures. This theology affects the philosophy of our ministry, which is how we operate. Finally, this philosophy affects the practical outworking of our Student Ministries as we… Live the Truth in lifestyle and in community and Share the Truth because we just can’t contain it.

What does all this mean?

Oxford Street Student Ministries gives young people the opportunity to walk with the Lord for a lifetime by equipping them with the tools to do so, and sending them out with those tools.

All of which is to bring Glory to God.

Mission - Bring Glory to God

Oxford Street Student Ministries exists to bring glory to God through lives changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Through that we are able to give students the opportunity to walk with the Lord for a lifetime by equipping them with the tools to do so, and sending them out with those tools.

Three Core Values

Oxford Street Student Ministries has three core values, which are know, Live, and Share. We believe our three Core Values accurately reflect God's purposes for our students.

KNOW THE TRUTH - and why you believe what you believe

LIVE THE TRUTH – in lifestyle and in community

SHARE THE TRUTH - because you just can’t contain it

How Do We Apply Them

Know – 2nd Second Hour, Small Groups

Live – Prime Time, Konnection, Small Groups

Share – Mission Trips, Retreats/Camps, Prime Time, Konnection

The mission of the Church of Jesus Christ has been the same since it’s inception. The message is the same, but the methods are new. The call is consistent, but the context is ever-changing. Our mission statement succinctly describes our heart. We what are students the know the Truth, Live the Truth, and Share the Truth.

Vision

Vision

Vision- An Outward Expression

Oxford Street Student Ministries vision is its three Core Values – Know, Live, Share

The Mission of the Church is solid, static and not open for change, and our Student Ministries will hold the same values. On the other hand a Vision is a growing and flexible understanding of God's specific purpose. Our vision is dynamic and unique. We believe our three Core Values accurately reflect God's purposes for the students at TBC. Our desire is to see these values expressed by our students for the rest of their lives.

In other words the message never changes but the methods do.

Other Info

The Oxford Street student ministries team believes that this is a ministry to parents just as much as it is to students. Please know that it is our deep desire to partner closely with you as you journey through the sometimes tiring/frustrating/testing times of being a parent of a teenager. Here are a few things that we would ask of you as a parent to help make this as successful of a partnership as possible:

·          Don’t be strangers. We want to know each of you by name. We want to spend time with you and know your family.

·          Make every effort to be at the parent meetings that we have periodically during the year.

·          Never hesitate to call if you are in a crisis with your student. We want to help with counseling situations as much as possible. If we cannot meet your needs adequately, we will refer you to someone who can.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!

Our desire is to create an environment at Oxford Street that enables parents/leaders to plug-in where they are gifted. Placing you, the parent, in a leadership role allows me to spend more time with students and also provides you with the opportunity to serve where you are gifted. So contact us to get plugged-in!

3. Event to Event

(We will also spend 6 weeks on Biblical finances)

We want your senior to know how awesome God is and how we should feel having Him as our Savior.

LIVE – the truth in life style and in community

Discipleship: Call to growth and teach them how to live as Christ has called them.

How are we going to do this? With Topics like…

-       Adoration

-       Confession

-       Putting Christ First

-       A Devotional Life

-       Prayer-Evidence of Dependency

-       The Importance of God’s Word

-       Bible Study Method

Our prayer is that we will prepare these students to go out into the world as Christ followers.

Small Groups

Small Groups

Small Groups

When: Wednesday 5:30pm - 6::30pm

Where: Student Ministry Center

We believe that Ministry happens best in the context of authentic  and lasting relationships. Therefore, Small Groups are viewed as the backbone of what we do in our ministry. Small Groups are broken down by grade and gender, with each group having around 10 to 12 individuals. Groups meet during the school year in the Oxford House Student Center before Konnection starting at 5:30. As a ministry, we do everything we can to help our students get plugged in and our leaders succeed in the mission of making disciples.

Who are our leaders? The Jr. High Small Group leaders are high school students that are on the Student Ministry Leadership Team. Taking these high school students and placing them into a leadership role that teaches them how to make disciples. Two major things happen 1) Someone a few years old then them is living out and reinforcing what they are being taught at home. 2) When your Jr. High student becomes a high school student they will want to be a Small Group leader to impact the same way someone did in their live. Folk's that's called real discipleship!

WHAT WE ARE TEACHING:

January 10th...We will be Kicking off the semester with a 8 week lesson focused in the basics of our faith.  I’m sure there are other topics that could have been included, but I think the eight lessons we chose for this study really are the basics for a fulfilling relationship with Jesus. In case you’re reading this and have no idea what topics are in this curriculum, let me share:

Confident in Christ: How to Know Your Are Saved

What a Book!: Understanding the Importance of the Bible

Let’s Communicate: How to Talk to God

He’s the Boss: How to Let God Lead You

The Big Test: How to Handle Temptation

Here Comes Trouble: How to Benefit From Life’s Problems

Give It Away: How to Share Your Faith

Friends Forever: How to Build Positive Relationships

None of our small group curriculum is overly extensive and that’s because we want to leave lots of room for your students to discuss the material, ask questions and engage in meaningful conversation . . . even if it’s a bunch of 7th grade guys!
